ahhhhh

I have found some white noise cds and websites to aide in studying on campus. Just got a 'relaxing rain' album on iTunes, that is fabulous. Lovely relaxing but not distracting sound to have playing as I focus on contracts. Also the law school has installed all these tables and chairs throughout the levels and courtyards - so I have somewhere comfortable to sit - with water and toilets nearby. If they would just install power-points this would be perfect!

Contract law is great. Really interesting. There is a legal term from contract law that is fabulous and has found it's way into everyday life "puff".  Puff consists of all those statements which, while made to induce contracts,  are so obviously far-fetched that no reasonable person would believe them. These statements are not binding on the upon the party making them (finally an explanation for skin care and toothpaste ads - actually two explanations as advertisements are "invitations to treat" not legally binding offers). I love this. "puff" is currently my favourite comment!

My contracts law book is really really good. Really well written, clear and not confusing - which is great.

but the really cool thing is occasionally there are bits that encapsulate legal doctrine really well

like this "... performance  by the deceased is impossible and the law will not compel impossibility..."

 I don't know if any of you have been following the strikes and the Republican's attempts to break union power in Wisconsin, but it is a pretty amazing story. I highly recommend the Maddow blog to get all the information
