Annoying

Has anyone else found the para-Olympian fundraisers to be a complete pain-in-the-arse? I just got hassled by them at officeworks, and I said, right at the start, "oh ok, I can afford $10". So the guy is telling me about the $250 packages. So I try again "I am a student, do you have a $10 package?" and so he tells me about the $30 package. I would like to note that this is for a booklet of vouchers I will NEVER USE because it is all stuff I basically rarely eat. And still he goes on about it. So he finally admits they have a $10 option, and when he goes to enter the amount he basically tries to make me up it to $20. At that point I am like "you can have the $10 or none".

This is utterly stupid - because from now on I will walk past the collectors and refuse to even talk to them. I cannot believe charity collectors can be so insulting - I am donating to their charity and being harrassed because they don't think it is enough.

Also, my memory of disabled sports funding does not concur with his claims they are only 25% funded. My understanding is they get funding from multiple governments, and they also access a portion of the general 'sports' funding. And I suspect that the target they have is not what they have to spend but what they want to spend. See? One bad interaction and I am anti-disabled-sports.

And I am pretty pro the 'level the playing field' position too.

bah. Back to assignment.
