The Banana Republic
Jul. 2nd, 2011 10:10 am CricketK found a local mad-ppl-who-run-through-the-bush event, and has got me to agree to go in it when she visits. I am kind of looking forward to that weekend actually, there is a medieval festival the day before, and so it will be fun. And she says we are doing the moderate level (bet that means different things to each of us).
I emailed the organisers to ask if I could bring the dog. I said in my email I assumed not, given the national park and all, but that as I was here to look after the dog I felt like I should check cause if he could come, I would bring him.
and in the reply email I was sent part of their code of conduct.
Seriously? You have to tell people not to bring firearms? Even though I am pretty sure it is illegal to take firearms anywhere in Oz without the huge amount of paperwork and licences and permits and special carrying cases and so on?*
What an awesome state this is. Oh, by the way, the local hunters and fishers party of Qld is trying to pass laws to loosen up the laws in respect to air rifles. As in, anyone can get one, including minors, without all those pesky permits and licences and tests and special carrying cases and gun lockers and stuff. I mean it is just air rifles right? They can't do any damage**.
Just what we need, looser gun laws.
* One of you is going to be a pest and point out that it is the national guidelines, not the state ones right? But is it? Do other states try to bring guns to track-your-way-through-the-bush type events?
**I took air rifle shooting classes at the P&C when I was a kid - ask my teacher about the damage an air rifle can do. I missed once, and the ricochet off the back board nearly took off his toe.
