Where bits go wrong and annoy me. but still, good things happen.

My brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew skyped me this morning for one of their slightly weird family conversations. Where all four of them try to cram themselves in front of the camera at once, and Mea invariably presses a button on the computer that kills off sound or makes them all disappear or whatever. And Max sits there grinning inanely at my, trying to keep his balance (looks a little like those blow up clowns you could punch, rocking back and forth with this huge grin on his face). The adults all trying to figure out something new to say to each other.

This time I remembered to get my finger puppets out. I am experimenting with things you can do with very small children over skype. You can sing songs and play 'if you are happy and you know it clap your hands' and things like that. You can play peek-a-boo. You can grab your unwilling cat and make him the star of the morning's chat. You can play with finger puppets. If I send over the same book, I would assume I can read to them. Seems unlikely Mea would stay put though.  Ooooh I could do face paints on me. LOL.

Then I went off for my ride. I had organised to ride to uni with an ex-co-worker this morning. We were meeting out the front of Parliament house, and riding down the uni to Murdoch. But she had a big night last night and stood me up. and even more staggeringly, I went by myself!

It is about 20 kilometers and it is mainly flat. It is a very nice ride actually, there was enough breeze to keep it pleasant, lots to look at, nice clear paths etc. Could have done without the 400 men who seem to think the cycle path has three lanes, one for those going one way, one for one going the other way and one for them to ride with their mate straight down the middle, regardless of who else is on the path. And those cycle paths are a little bit more narrow than what I am used to, so it was a bit hairy at times. Especially lovely ride once you go under Canning Bridge, and I love the Mt Henry Bridge cycle path. It seemed like nothing once you went under Canning Bridge.

Didn't even take me an hour, so I was pretty chuffed. Definitely going to ride to uni now. Suspect I might not be up to riding home each day, so I am toying with the idea of riding out one day, leaving my bike locked up in the bike shed over night and riding home the next day.

Uni on the weekend lived up to expectation. The gym is only open 9-1, the library only open 12-5. Awesome. So either I have to lug around two panniers or I can't get to the research books. Oh well. The point was to be somewhere that didn't have tv or beds, and I managed that. The wookie came to pick me up about 12 and we had yum cha before heading home which was nice.

Oh, the bits that were stupid. The server was down at uni so I couldn't access notes for my lectures or anything which was annoying. But the problem solving class has made me note a few things I need to spell out in my assignment. Which I should get on with.

Ciao bellas.

Recall elections are ON in Wisconsin. They have gathered the necessary signatures to organise the first recall election of a Senator (Republican) who passed the union-stripping legislation. They got the signatures in a MONTH early - and apparently the election is automatically triggered by handing in the signatures for 6 Saturdays after they are in. So, one down....

Ohio governor has publically pissed all over the Police and Firefighters union in signing their executive order to strip public sector collective bargains (beautiful footage of him telling a story about being pulled over by an 'idiot policeman... you know the ones...". They have dis-endorsed the republicans.

In fact, FOP (police unions) in lots of states and nationally  who are traditionally republican and endorse them and fight'in mad and are remembering they are a UNION and maybe it is time to get on board with the pro-union party (possibly should take into account their members are blue collar too - but I guess it is a gun thang).

La la la. Viva la revolution! Don't even HAVE to wait til November to watch the Tea Party start to go down.
